I've seen this problem all over the forum, but I couldn't find an answer that works. The primary hard drive in my VM cannot be compressed or expanded because, allegedly, it has snapshots or is corrupt. No snapshots, and I don't know why it would be corrupt - XP thinks it's okay. I really need to expand the drive because it's almost full. How can I get rid of the error message so I can expand the drive?

    Thanks!

    Workaround

Based on the information in this old thread,
    http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=13812

I managed to work around by creating a second ( slightly bigger ) hard disk.
The thread suggested using the freeware Clone Maxx tool which I found very slow and failed to copy my 10GB image.
I then reverted to trusty Acronis which performed the clone within 20 minutes.

Boot from the second new drive. I disconnected then deleted the old but thats not manadatory. Compress / resize then works fine again, and the task is much, much faster

    Hope that helps
