Can't install guest tools with 3.10.0 kernel

Same for me on the Ubuntu "Saucy" pre-release images.

Could you Parallels folks not do with some sort of continuous integration system that always pulls the latest kernel git tree before building? That way you'll get plenty of advanced notice when there are API breakages.
 
Now I have the same problem on Fedora 18 as the update installed kernel 3.10.7.
Is there any update/bugfix for this issue?
 
This is great news. However, I've mounted the iso using the Parallels CD interface and attempted to install on Fedora 18, kernel 3.10.9-100 and sh ./install returns a permissions error (read-only) on line 501. Are we supposed to manually mount the image as rw?

Thanks for the good laugh! Luckily I didn't have a mouth full of drink or my screen would be all wet. ;-)

Thank you for creating the iso! I installed debian "Jessie" and installed the tools using the iso. The tools installed successfully, but I am unable see anything in the psf folder which means no access to my host hard drives. (Running PD 8.)

Can you suggest anything to debug the problem?

The tools work fine with wheezy.

Folks,

Just reinstalled Jessie (and Cinnamon from unstable) and then installed Parallels Tools using the patched iso in Reply #5. On reboot, had full access to my host hard drives.
Cannot explain why the difference.

Thanks for the patched .iso; however, installing the tools still hangs - I get "Please wait while installing is in progress" and no further response.

Mac OS X 10.8.5 host, Ubuntu 13.10 guest, Parallels Desktop 8 latest, trying StefanG64's .iso of Adnako's patches to the Parallels tools.

I do not like these parallel's issues and I switched to VBox 4.3. They support latest kernel ABI and guest modules build with dkms - it's a right way. And VBox is free and just works.

That was funny; I logged into the forum via Safari, then realized that without Parallels Tools installed, I couldn't transfer the file or cut and paste the log! So logged in from the Linux side now...

I installed from the installer directory: sudo ./installer.x86_64

The entire log:

BTW, I have also become frustrated with the tools issues, and tried VB 4.3 in the meantime as well. Works well, except it won't support the Retina resolutions, which I need for my CAD tools. I don't mind tiny fonts ;-)

You may just copy log file to host with "scp" command.

It's not as informative as I expected.
I'm going to check this script on my Ubuntu in VBox and shall answer you later.

Ah, I do not have Retina yet, but I figured out just now - I will need hypervisor with Retina support soon :)
 
Unfortunately @StefanG84 made iso without '-r' option and all permissions are reseted to -r--------
I rebuilt an iso with exec permissions. Download it and just exec: sudo /media/path/install

UPD I'm sorry, link fixed.
