Can't install MS Office 2007 on Win7 under P8

I updated my Parallels 7 to P8 today and everything went smoothly.
I then decided to update my Windows XP VM to Windows 7 and again, everything went smoothly (after I reinstalled Parallels tools).
But, when attempting to install MS Office 2007 - the installation would stall at about the 75% mark and I wold get an Error 1935. Doing a Google search this has something to do (under a "normal Windows 7 Install") with Microsoft NET.
I did a Windows Update and then downloaded and installed Microsoft NET 4 (the latest version), but still can't get Office 2007 to complete the install.
Any suggestions?

Also just tried downloading and installing the trial version of MS Office 2010 and that also did not install. But that time I got error 1712. Getting very frustrated as I had no issues installing my copy of MS Office 2007 when I was running Windows XP (under both Parallels 7 and now Parallels 8). But I would rather not go back to XP.
