    Hy,

    I have the same Problem.

    Guest-OS: Fedora Core 10 (2.6.27.19)
    Parallels Desktop 3.0 (build 5626)
    Parallel Tools 3.0.5606.0

The Parallels Tools installation process starts. After confirming installation
question with "Yes", the installation stops with this output:

    Found xorg version 1.5.3
    Intstallation for xorg.1.5 not found.

There are no messages in /var/log/messages concerning the Parallels Tools
installation. The same behaviour occurs with (K)Ubuntu 8.1 and OpenSuse 11.1.
Any workaround known? Would Parallels Desktop support FC10 in future?

    With kind regards,
    Martin Däumler

    followed instructions - doesn't work

The person who keeps posting "why can't everyone simply follow the instructions" may not realize that those instructions do not work for everyone. I'm trying to install Parallels Tools 4 in Ubuntu 8.0.4. I could not get install to launch with cd /media/cdrom, sudo sh ./install . This worked at least for the installer:

    cd /media/Parallels\ Tools
    sudo sh ./install

However, after clicking 'Next' a few times I got the error that it could not find the appropriate kernal resources, and 'Exit'. What do I need to do to get Parallels tools to work in Ubuntu 8.0.4?

The Ubuntu image that I am using was 7.1.0 converted from VMWare Fusion using the transporter tool, then upgraded to 8.0.4 LTS.
