Running Windows 10 and Parallels 11 Under El Capitan. I can't a CD or DVD in the Windows Guest from my internal iMac DVD drive. I insert the disc in the iMac drive and after a bit of activity the disc is ejected. In Mac System Report the OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5680 shows up under the Serial-ATA Device Tree as the second entry. In the VM config the same drive shows up in Hardware - CD/DVD 1: Source: OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5680. Under Advanced Settings the Location first showed up as IDE 0:1. Given the Mac System Report showing the drive under the SATA listing, I shutdown and changed the VM config Location to SATA 0:2 and the SATA 0:1 but no change - the iMac disc ejects itself. I haven't needed to do this in a while but I have mounted discs to my Windows VM so maybe I am missing a step here. I'd appreciate if someone can help me troubleshoot this.
I just tried to mount a DVD with the VM shut down and I am getting the same disc reject problem, so it more likely a problem with the drive itself. It probably died from neglect as I can't recall the last time I needed to use it. Consider this closed, unless someone has a comment that could help diagnose this.
