Can't resize the main Windows 8.1 window

I can't resize the main window on the Mac desktop. I used to be able to make it larger or smaller on all four sides of the window. I can only make it larger and smaller on the lower right now and it is in a square shape.

The VM used to always start in Coherence mode. Now it doesn't. ??

I found the answers in the manual...duh. Everything I needed was in modality mode.
