Can't Start My Bootcamp Virtual Machine OS 10.5/Vista

Hello:

I am trying to get parallels to open my bootcamp drive which has Vista loaded onto it.
I am running OS 10.5 build 9A466 on a Macbook Pro 2.16 Core Duo with 2GB of ram.

The machine boots into vista just fine in Bootcamp as the startup drive, but when I run Parallels (Build 5158 RC 2) I get the following error message:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language setting and click "next"
3. Click "Repair your Computer"

If you do not have this disc, contact your System Administrator or your computer Manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc0000225

Info: Windows failed to load because the firmware (BIOS) is not ACPI compatible."

I have tried to start up with my windows Vista disc, but it still keeps coming back to this message.

I was able to boot prevously into Vista, but when Parallels was intalling Parallels Tools something seemed to happen that caused a problem, because i get a dialog box over the above screen that states "Parallels Tools Initialization is in Progress..." even though I had already installe Parallels Tools?

Any help as to how I can resolve this issue to boot off of my Bootcamp partition would be appreciated. As stated I can boot into Vista directly and it works fine, but would much prefer to boot up "virtually" to use the occasional windows program.

Try this. It is intended for Parallels Desktop 3.0 but it works in a similar manner for Bootcamp.

Prepare the VM to repair using the Windows Setup DVD
1. Start Parallels Desktop and select the broken VM but don't start the VM.
2. Go to Edit \ Virtual Machines on the Parallels Desktop menu to access the Configuration Editor.
3. Click Options on the Resource pane on the left.
4. Click on the General tab if not already there.
5. Select OS Type: Windows, and select OS Version: Windows Vista.
6. Click on the Booting tab.
7. Select the following Boot Sequence: CD-ROM, Hard Disk, Floppy.
8. Click "CD/DVD ROM 1" on the Resource pane.
9. Verify that the Device Status is set to "Enabled" check "Connect at startup".
10. Set the Emulation to " Use CD/DVD-ROM" and select "Default CD/DVD-ROM".

The following step (#11) might not be necessary but since I did that in my quest to find a solution I will mention it. If you follow that step just make sure to undo it after your VM is fixed.
11. Click on "Network Adapter 1 and uncheck "Enabled".

12. Click OK to accept the changes.

Windows Vista repair
1. Insert the Windows Vista DVD in the drive
2. Restart the VM and press any key to boot to the MS Windows Vista DVD
3. Choose the option to Repair the existing Windows installation.
4. Try starting Windows again. Re-install Parallels Tools if necessary.

Thats it! Your VM should work after that.

Oh my God, I cannot believe this actually worked.

Moyce, thanks a bunch!! I followed your dicrections up to Step 12 and gave it a whirl only find that I was able to boot successfully. Thanks again!
