Can't type @, can't see d drive or USB

I'm being plagued by three errors which are preventing me from using Parallels fully. The first is that my keyboard won't allow me to type an '@' sign - all I get is a double quote mark("). I've tried various key options but to no effect.

The secons is that Windows won't see the D drive. It appears to be set up correctly in Parallels as Default CD/DVD-Rom rather than as an image. Thirdly if I plug a USB keyfob storage device into the Mac I get a message to say that the USB device is "being used by another process" I'm asked to find the " the application that blocked up the device.

I need to be able to move files between the two OS's but at the moment I can't write to CD, copy to USB or even mail them to myself (no @ symbol.) My files are trapped in Windows - please help.

hi gil, i have the same results has you but 2 are solvable in my book:

1º) the @ on the mac environement is the "ALT+2" but on the windows VM you must type "UP-ARROW+2" (right side of keyboard, not the CapLock)

2º) the macbook only has 1 drive (C:/) and the VM is only a virtual image of that drive - so in windows VM you will see also the same C drive, not 2 drives for each OS (although you can create as many virtual drives inside the windows environement) but all from same mac disk so manage your memory space well.

3º) the USB problem is what im stuck at, also... i cant plug a pen or a phone in order to load/download files from that external drive and that is frustrating!!! i get the same << usb plug in use - wait 5 to 10 seconds and try again - if not, find the program that locked the port and stop it manualy>> warning pop-up *something like that*. For that issue, ive posted the problem here in this forum before, waiting for a solution from parallels team... but no luck still.



In a way for me its good to see im not alone on the USB error - so lets start a topic on that and post as many warnings as possible until we get all attention and solution to the problem.

You should find that the (") and (@) keys are just swapped around. This is to do with the keyboard layout chosen under "control panel -> regional and language -> languages -> Details" in windows. You might have chosen the wrong region when installing windows or, more likely, you are a UK (or other European) Mac user just finding out about the annoying differences between Apple and PC localised keyboards.
