After the latest Parallels update, I can still set Safari as the default app for .html in Windows VM, but when I click on a link in Windows, I get the following error: "Your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more info, please contact your help desk." The other error that I sometimes get is: "Class Not Registered" I used to be able to click on links in Windows and have them open in Mac Safari no problem. Anyone else experiencing this?
I've got this fixed, here are the steps I took: - Disabled 'Share Mac applications with Windows' in the Parallels Desktop VM Config / Applications - Uninstalled Parallels Tools inside the VM via Settings / Apps / Installed Apps - Rebooted Parallels Desktop and the VM - Verified in OSX System Settings / Privacy & Security / Accessibility that Parallels Desktop is allowed to control my computer - Rebooted my compter - Reinstalled Parallels Desktop inside the VM (requires restart of the VM) - Allowed 'Share Mac applications with Windows' in the Parallels Desktop VM Config / Applications - Rebooted the VM - Configured default apps inside the VM via Settings / Apps / Default Apps - Rebooted the VM Everything works fine now.
Same "Class Not Registered" issue here. Especially when I receive a document file in chat app and try to open directly from it using Word for Mac. Open files from explorer seems fine.
Same issue since yesterday, started with the class not registered error and after restart it was followed up by the message: "Your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more info, please contact your help desk." Also the default app for PDF files Preview is no longer recognized, I can only put Edge and it will work. Both problems in Outlook.

If you change your default browser in Windows to Edge, the URLs open correctly. Unfortunately, when you switch to something else, it breaks. Having issues in MS Excel also launching a URL.
Same issue. Windows won't save default browser when I try to set it. Also had issues in MS Word not opening a URL when clicked on. Hope it's fixed soon! Very inconvenient!
Didnt work for me. Tried twice and carefully followed step-by-step. Disappointing regression Parallels.
Thank you for posting these steps. I followed the exactly and unfortunately this did not fix the issue for me.
I downgraded back to 19, all is well in the world again. Just a simple download of the installer and running it.
Thank you for the suggestion to downgrade to version 19; it worked for me! I encountered a similar issue with Parallels Desktop since updating to version 20. This issue concerns opening files stored on my Mac from Windows applications in the virtual machine, specifically when those files are associated with macOS applications. The problem arises when my Windows application (developed with WinDev) or other Windows programs attempt to open files that are associated with macOS applications via Parallels Desktop. For example, if I associate .txt files with TextEdit on macOS, a Windows program fails to open this .txt file, generating the 'Class Not Registered' error. In contrast, opening works correctly if I associate these files with a Windows application, like Notepad. I even tried creating a new virtual machine that encountered the exact same problem, suggesting that it is not specific to my initial configuration. I checked the permissions and settings in Parallels Desktop but found no solution. It seems there is an issue with how system calls are managed between Windows applications and Parallels when opening files associated with macOS applications.
This didn't work for me. Updated Parallels from 20.0.0 and still having the issue in Parallels Pro 20.0.1.
I opened a ticket with Parallels support and they said: The issue requires an investigation on a code level, thus we escalated it to the Development team. The Development Team doesn't provide us with any ETA required for the investigation, thus we have nothing to share with you on this matter - we hope it won't take a while.I'll keep y'all updated if I hear more.
It's happening to me to with any type of link, especially within outlook. If I want to open a link in outlook, I have to swap it to a Windows VM program. This didn't happen at all in Parallels 19
I just installed the most recent update they sent out (to version 20.1.0) and it fixed this issue. Works great now!
