CentOS 4.4 4.5 Boot problem

Hi. Trying to install CentOS 4.4 or 4.5. They both install. However, neither gets beyond the unpacking stage when booting up the kernel. The system appears to freeze. Anyone know a reason for this? I'm using i686 ISOs I got of a BitRocket/BitTorrent site. In fact the 4.4 and 4.5 came from different sites. Do I have bad ISOs or is there a trick? If so, what? Thank you.

I had this problem too this week with CentOS 4.5, it turned out that there was two grub options, one which started up with a SMB setup, the other regular. By default it was trying to start up the SMB setup and it would get to the booting kernel prompt and hang. I later on chose the other option and it works like a charm, so I just edited my grub config to point to the non-SMB bootup and everything is good :)

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

L
