Since upgrading to version 6 we can no longer use the "Check now..." (for updates) button in the 2X Console:

Current Server Version 6.0 (Build 419)
    Failed to communicate.

I logged a ticket with support, and was told that:

"The problem is in your firewall/proxy. It is blocking SSL connection. SSL is working but only one-way and it should be opened two-way."

Now, I have no problems browsing to regular SSL sites from the server, but the answer from support seems to indicate that I need to open an incoming port in my firewall for some external 2x site to reach my internal server.

Does that make any sense? There is no way that I or my security officer is going to allow externally initiated traffic into our server - and why should we?

The reason given by support was:

"It collects information about the server. NICs, IPs, GUIDs. It is necessary to avoid fraud."

Why can't the application collect this information and send it through the SSL port without me allowing external access?

I'm inclined to believe that there must be some kind of misunderstanding here - do y'all expose your 2X server to the Internet like that?
