client accessing host IP:Port

Hi, I have an Apache based database running on Mac. Now I would like to communicate to the DB from my client (XP). I have tried several configurations, but unfortunately no luck.

ping from host to client -> OK
ping from client to host -> Not OK

Please, how can I fix this?

It's a long time request, i have asked the same for long time, i have a postgreSQL that I would like to be able to access from any of my VMs, it will just not work…

Yes, this has been addressed several times, and so the answer (it's in the thread you linked to!), just use bridge networking which puts all devices in the same subnet.
