Coherance just "stopped" working...

I've been using OSX 10.6 on my MBPro for around 5 months. I've installed Parallels 6 and have Windows 7 installed. For the most part, it's been working well.

Then, around a week ago, Parallels performed an update. Since then, my "windows apps" no longer appear in the folder in my Dock and Coherance is no longer an option.

The only hardware that has been added recently is a 27" cinema Display, a magic mouse and a USB apple keyboard. I also installed an HP Laser printer on the MAC side of things (Nothing to do with Parallels).

Other than that, Parallels does work, but I can't run in Coherance.

Also, on the bottom of my Parallels desktop it reads "Parallels Tools are not installed. From the Virtual Machine menu, choose Install Parallels Tools."

I try to do this and it gets most of the way through. Then it reverts and tells me it couldn't install them? It then restarts and that's it...

Any ideas?
 
I'm having the same problem here. Hopefully someone can help us. Here's what I've noticed:

I got the message that Parallels 6 needed to update yesterday, and after it did, I found I had lost coherence mode. The reinstall of Parallels Tools failed, and on restart, it gave me an error in windows that "Windows cannot access psf\\Home\Desktop."

I tried running the Parallels Tools setup wizard from the menu again, but the thermometer gets about 60%-70% across and then fails during "Publishing Product Information" with error #1935.

Found that some programs (like Calculator) run, while others (like Solitaire) won't.

Everything was fine before the "update."

I have also similar problems. When i switch to coherence view i get a message "Unable to switch to coherence, the virtual machine display configuration could not be applied". But i think the problem is with the antiviral software installed in my windows7. If you have an antivirus in windows 7 remove it.
 
Nope, no anti-virus, nothing weird... Just a plain old simple as you can get Windows Installation for testing websites in IE.
 
No, I have not found a way yet... However, it may have been a blessing in disguise since now my wireless network appears to work fine. Before, I needed to "remove and add" the network driver everytime I needed to connect online... Now it works.

That said, I've lost trust in Parallels and have turned off the automatic updates. I'll stick with what kindof works now for fear the next one will just not work at all...
 
Similar thing happend to me after the latest update. I have to exit coherence mode, go to the configure screen and deselect the crystal mode button and click okay just so I can right click using the magic mouse and the control + Shift keys. I then reselect the crystal mode button and go back into coherence and everything works the way I want it to. This is a pain in the butt but it works like I want it to.

Short and sweet version: For situations when coherence will not work with multiple external monitors (esp using DisplayLink driver) giving error message "Unable to switch to coherence. The virtual machine display configuration could not be applied":
1. "Parallels Desktop" menu -> "Preferences" -> USB tab
2. "When a new USB device is detected:" select "Connect it to my Mac"
3. Under "Permanent Assignments:", delete any USB Devices listed

The story: I made the mistake of exiting coherence and trying to enter again. At the same time, Win 7 had a major updates (about 35 in all), which I downloaded. That was 4 days ago. After trying what I thought was everything since, I finally broke down and called tech support today. They didn't have the answer, and I had planned to follow up tomorrow. In the meantime, I tried a couple of things.

I'm going to be as detailed as possible. First my setup. I am using a Macbook 2,1 with 2 external monitors, one attached via mini-DVI to DVI, the second via USB to DVI running of DisplayLink driver. I am running OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Parallels 7. The first thing I tried was installing the previous version of Parallels (7.0.14920) with a previous version of DisplayLink driver (1.5). My reasoning was there was a brief moment before I messed around with updates and before I exited coherence where this combination worked. This time, it was no go. I then went into the Parallels menu and selected "Preferences" under USB tab and selected the option to automatically connect to Mac when a new USB device is detected. I then deleted the USB DVI monitor from the Permanent Assignments list. Then "Enter Coherence". That worked!!

My next goal was to install the most up-to-date Parallels and DisplayLink driver and get coherence working. I first uninstalled parallel tools from Win 7, then uninstalled Parallels from OSX and uninstalled the DisplayLink driver from OSX. Restarted. Then installed the latest Parallels (7.0.14922). Parallels Desktop menu -> "Preferences". Selected "Connect it to my Mac" under "When a new USB device is detected:". Installed DisplayLink driver 1.6 (latest version). Restarted. Everything worked. **Don't forget, if the driver is already installed before you adjust the USB option under Preferences, you also need to delete any listed USB external monitors from "Permanent Assignments". Good luck!!
