Could Parallels have messed up my Mac's airport connection?

Hi all, hoping this makes sense.

I use wifi at a public hotspot. Yesterday I wanted to connect from the WinXP Parallels side. It wouldn't connect, so I ran WinXP network diagnostics. That fixed the problem, and I could connect to the Internet from Windows.

But, I lost the ability to connect on the Mac side -- only to this particular hotspot! No matter what I do, even with WinXP suspended and Parallels turned off, my MBP's airport card will not connect to this hotspot.

My MPB sees the network, but I get either no IP address or a self-assigned IP.

Other users around me can connect, and even my iPhone can connect to the hotspot network. I can see other networks and connect to them, just not this particular one -- the one I need.

And I've never had a problem, until I ran this network diagnostic on the Windows side yesterday.

I've tried ALL the Mac solutions I can find on Apple's discussion boards. My airport card can connect to my home network perfectly.

Can anyone shed light on this strange problem?

Are you using Shared Networking for the virtual machine Network Adapter? Maybe shutdown the virtual machine, remove the network adapter, then add a new one.

I'm having a similar issue. After installing Parallels I notice I cannot connect to *some* Wi-Fi networks that I've used previously. I wiped the HDD, reinstalled Mountain Lion and connected successfully to all those hotspots. Then I installed Parallels again and presto! the problem is back.

Besides some wi-fi networks I cannot tether to my iPhone anymore (USB, Wi-Fi nor Bluetooth all give self-assigned IP).
 
Go into Parallels Preferences -> Advanced then click the "Change Settings" button next to Network. Turn off "Enable IPV6 DCHP". I had this problem before and that fixed it. Today I had a similar issue on a new Parallels install, same problem and this fixed it again. I think this is only an issue if your Mac network setting is set to configure IPV6 automatically. If you set that to manual configuration this may be a moot point.
