Create virtual USB memory stick?

I'm trying to implement BitLocker (employer requirement) without TPM, and have found how to do it here: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/ne...er-encryption-on-non-tpm-windows-systems/2248

It requires a USB key to store the BitLocker key. I would like to virtualize that USB drive onto my Mac, to avoid having to waste a USB port. Searching the forums (fora?) with every combination of terms I could think of yielded no results.

Any suggestions? Preferably anatomically feasible, and no "Don't use BitLocker" please <grin>...
 
If you create a disk image (.dmg) of the USB key, add a new CD/DVD hardware device to to VM configuration, choose that image, does it work?
