CTRL+Srcoll wheel to zoom in Microsoft apps?

Bear with me, I'm a newbie.

I'm running Mac OS Leopard (10.4?) as my main OS, Windows XP SP2 as my host.
Parallels desktop 3 build 5584.

My question: On my plain vanilla Windows PC, I could always use CTRL + middle mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out in MS Word, Excel, etc. I use this A LOT. It seems to be available for generic USB scroll mice and not linked to any particular mouse brand/driver.

(side note: In PC-land, this zoom function affects only to the document or spreadsheet being displayed, not to the entire screen)

But when I try to do this in my Mac/Parallels/Windows XP-as-guest setup, I get the "Mac-ish" whole screen zoom rather than the document-only zoom that I would prefer.

Help? Please? Anyone?
 
The Mac behaviour of the mouse takes precedence over the mouse behaviour under Parallels, I don't know if it's possible for a program to 'evade' the Mac mouse settings and use its own, if it is Parallels should implement this. But under the current Parallels build the best you can do is to disable the Mac settings for the middle button so windows can grab them.
 
If you have mouse with drivers for Windows you need to install it in Windows na dassign mouse to Windows only in this case, supported features will work
 
I tried installing my Logitech driver into the host OS -- that got pretty ugly, pretty fast. (I probably did somthing wrong.) So I blew that away and reverted to the default mouse stuff that comes with ||s.

Specimen's appoach worked -- I can live with out the Mac zoom; the Window's version is more important to me right now.
