Debian 7 can not install Parallels tools.

Bump.

I have the same problem with SecurityOnion, which is basically XUbuntu 14.04,so also Debian-based. I have a pop-up on every restart telling me Paralles Tools not installed properly. Re-install seems to go OK, but same error massage returns.

Cheers

When I install it, it tell me I need kernel source, but I have it. The Parallels Desktop version is 10.0.2.
This is exactly what I experienced when trying to install Parallels Tools via "install" (before doing that I had to copy the whole content of the Parallels Tools disc to any directory on my hard drive and chmod it to make it executable).

Finally I managed to install Parallels Tools via install-gui (I had to chmod it, too)
install-gui will bring up a window showing installation progress. After reaching 100% it will ask you to reboot your machine.
When rebooted, everything started to work fine for me (shared folders, cursor behavior...).
I executed install-gui with sudo.

Hopefully this is the solution for you, too.
