Debian guest os. Can't copy/paste between host and guest

I'm running latest macOS (10.12.1) and latest Parallels (12.0.2). I just installed a brand new Debian 8 guest and installed the parallel tools but I am unable to copy/paste between mac and debian. Does anyone have this working successfully?

I also tried to open a support ticket, but it keeps telling me that I have the wrong support code even though I just purchased the upgrade in August.

Hi, did you try this KB for the Parallels Tools installation?
And what about support code- please send it to us (via the private message), we will check it and provide you with all info about code.
