DHCP Server - Windows Domain

Dear All,

I have a problem whereby one of my clients has an imac which has just been added to a new Windows Domain. When the web administrator starts Parallels desktop it seems that it's starting a DHCP Server on the imac which is then disabling the DHCP server running in the Windows domain.

The imac is then giving out IP adresses on the 192.168.2.x network to other windows computers and I have no way of identifying where this is coming from.

I have little experience with the Parallels desktop appliction and macs in general and any help on this issue would be much appreciated.

I need to know how to identify and stop the imac launching a DHCP server on the windows domain. The imac is running OS Leopard.

Which networking do you have setup in Parallels?

I'm assuming Bridged Mode, correct? What build of Parallels are you running?

What IP range and subnet should your systems be getting from the correct DCHP server?

Yes I'm running OSX 10.51 and Parallels build 5160. I believe it's running Shared networking. How do I check whether it's bridged mode.

You need to stop your VM. Then from the Parallels menu in OSX Edit --> Virtual Machine --.> Networking

change it from Shared Network to Bridged then exit out and start your VM. You should be good to go now.

Hi I have tried this and still had no luck. I'm not sure whether this is infact a parallels desktop issue. It seems that everytime this imac reboots a DHCP Server service is starting on it. Is there anything else on an imac which could be causing this?

Hello,

please open Mac OS X "System Preferences" -> "Network" and check whether "Parallels NAT" is green or not.
Also please try to use this article.
One more thing: you can try to update to 5582 build.
