disk format question

If I plug in an external USB hard drive that is formatted in something that OS X can't read or write to, but linux can, will I be able to read and write to it through linux running in parallels?

Like for example if it's some wierd linux format, I plug it in, and OS X says something like "can't be mounted" or something along those lines, then boot up Fedora in Parallels, can I mount it and read and write to it?

I'd try it myself but don't have the means right now. Anyone gotten this to work?

Don't use Linux, but I imagine the USB setup is similar to Windows, meaning if you click on the USB icon on the bottom right of the Parallels window, it will pop up a list of USB devices that OS X (Parallels) sees. Mounting a USB hard drive in Linux via this process should make the drive visible to the Linux VM. Ejecting the device from OS X might be necessary before it can be detected by Parallels, though, if it is on OS X's detection list (even though it can't read the drive itself).
