Does Parallels 5.0 support Kubuntu 64 bit OS?

I've installed and run Kubuntu 10.04 successfully 3 times on my MacBook Pro using Parallels 5.0. Today when I tried to run the vm, it just hung on boot up. I decided to install another vm of 64 bit Kubuntu, and I get the message that the installer can't find a 64 bit CPU. Why is it complaining now? Apple tells me that it's a problem with Parallels not being able to support the 64 bit version of Kubuntu. Can anyone confirm or shoot this theory down? I need to find out if it's Parallels (I doubt it), Kubuntu (maybe), or the processor on my MacBook Pro (I hope to god it's not that!).

My experience on both an early 2009 model Mac Mini and a late 2009 13-inch MacBook Pro, both having a Core 2 Duo (64-bit) CPU and running Mac OS X Snow Leopard: yes, you can install/run 64-bit GNU/Linux ("amd64" kernel) in a Parallels 5.0 VM in those cases. The host Mac OS X itself need not run the K64 kernel for this to be true (disabled by default on the Mac Mini anyway) as long as the CPU is 64-bit.
 
Just wondering, what build of Parallels are you using, and Linux distro are you using? I've found quite a few postings that are describing the same problem I'm having. To me, anyway, it looks like there's been some change to either Kubuntu or Parallels that causes one or the other not to be able to detect a 64 bit CPU.
 
Latest Parallels 5.0 build, running Debian testing/Sid and Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) VMs both with 'amd64' 64-bit kernels.
Host is Mac OS X 10.6.4 (Snow Leopard). Using Parallels Tools in both VMs. Using both cores of the Core 2 Duo CPU in each VM. I can't imagine that Kubuntu would behave differently from the corresponding Ubuntu since they use the same kernel.
 
What is the exact build number of Paralleld 5.0 you're using? As far as whether Ubuntu and Kubuntu 10.04 versions are exactly the same, only Canonical knows for sure. One thing that I know for sure, it that I'm not the only person reporting this problem. i've done the research with Apple, and my MacBook Pro definitely has a 64bit cpu, I have definitely installed Kubuntu 10.04 64bit successfully using Parallels 5.0.9344, and it is definitely NOT working now. There has to be a reason somewhere.
