First and foremost kudos to Parallels for this product. It has run quite well and is quite responsive. It is precisely what I need....but.....But I do have a printer issue.
Hardware: MBP 2.16GHz/2-GB/10.4.7
guest OS: win XP/SP2
Issue: I have successfully connected to my Brother 1240 printer via USB that I have at home. More precisely, I used WinXP's 'add a printer' utility (as opposed to Bonjour) and had no problems.
So I head off to work, confirm that I can print to my office HP 2420 from OSX. then I fire up winXP. The OS states that it has found the printer as new hardware. Then cites that it needs to install "IEEE 1284.4 generic print... " and then WINXP just hangs up. Arrgh... Okay, try this a couple more times and get the same result. I should also point out that following this, the ability to print from the Mac is broken requiring the printer to be reset.
Okay, time to take a deep breath & try a different route: namely Bonjour. Bonjour sees the HP printer, I go through the installation process and select the generic/postscript etc., etc., as discussed on the BB. But when I attempt to print I get an error message that the printer does not exist and I cannot access the properties of the printer in the printer control panel.
any ideas, suggestions?? finally I should also point out that I can print to this printer via WinXP on a separation parition via bootcamp (two different copies of XP, btw).
