DVD Playback- No Video Parallels DTOP 3.0 4124

Hi. I am using have bootcamp installed running XP. I have complete functionality when I boot to Windows from startup. However, when I boot up by bootcamp xp partition in parallels, I get audio with no video when I try to play normal US region NTSC DVD's. I am using the k-lite full video codecs and they work fine when I boot into windows. I am using Parallels 3.0 build 4124. I am using a MacBook 2.16 Core 2 Duo. I am using 16 MB of shared video memory. I can go up to 64MB. I tried it with 32MB with no success. What should I do? And please don't tell me to just play the DVD in OSX. I've heard that one before.:)

wrong codecs?

After doing some searching on the forums, I discovered that Parallels emulates a VESA 2.0 card. I haven't heard of VESA until now. I take it that I need to change my codecs to something that is compatible. Could someone point me in the right direction? It would also be nice to have these codecs work when I am using bootcamp too.

You can try to disable DirectX option in Configuration->Video
 
Media Player Classic

Media Player Classic started to work with dvd playback when I disabled Direct X. However, Windows Media Player is still blank with audio. Does anybody know why?
 
Not using Win Media Player. But I am able to play videos and have both video and sound using Nero Showtime in WinXP.

This POOR solution worked for me in XP with my VLC Media Player.

HOWEVER this is a HORRIBLE solution. DirectX was added to support 3D. NOT to subtract any other features. I hope that this bug will fixed in the next update.

Also what needs to fixed in the next update is Vista's video quality except in QuickTime, that's HORRIBLE too. Also last but not least what needs to fixed in the next update is running most of Vista's built-in games with DirectX enabled.

Thank you Ankou, nice to know that Parallels is taking seriously the DirectX issues.

However on a slightly different subject, like I said Vista's video quality is crap except for QuickTime for some reason, whether or not I have the DirectX enabled, it doesn't make a bit of difference in this issue.

So I would like to think that Parallels is taking seriously Vista's video quality issues too.
