End Of Life for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows 3.5.1 SP1 on March 15 2011

Dear Parallels Partner,

This message is to inform you that Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows 3.5.1 Service Pack 1 will enter End of Life (EOL) status on March 15, 2011. At this time, the EOL announcement is only effective for the Windows 3.5.1 SP1 version of Parallels Containers. We expect to update you in the first half of 2011 as to when the Linux version will enter EOL status. Parallels will help you manage the transition to newer versions of Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows over the coming months.

End of Life Details
Once the EOL date of March 15, 2011 occurs, support for Parallels Containers Windows 3.5.1 SP1 will end. Here are the details, effective upon the EOL date:

• No further product updates of 3.5.1 SP1 or patches of 3.5.1 SP1
• No future integrations of 3.5.1 SP1 into any Parallels Products
• No further support of 3.5.1 SP1 by the Parallels Support Team

Managing the Transition to Newer Versions
The ongoing demand for new features and support of new versions of Windows Server drives the need to introduce new product versions and necessitates the need to EOL the older versions. Since the release of version 3.5.1 SP1 of Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows, there have been several newer releases of the product including 4.0, 4.5 and 4.6 versions.

The Parallels Support Team is ready to help you transition to Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows 4.6 during this 4 month period from the older versions (including 3.5.1 SP1) and we believe the transition time till March 15, 2011 is enough to complete your upgrade without any undue impact to your business.

Important Note on Provisioning and Backward Compatibility
If you are using your own software for Containers provisioning via XML API, please be informed XML API 3.0 can be used with Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows 4.5 only, not version 4.6. Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows 4.6 provides XML API 4.5 with no support for XML API 3.0. Please refer to http://kb.parallels.com/en/9216 for more details.
