Error loading operating system

Well, looks like ALL my VMs get the error loading operating system since I've loaded Parallels 11. Anyone have any ideas?

Going to downgrade I guess, hopefully it didn't corrupt everything.

Installed Parallels 10 and it works again. Why won't 11 load my operating systems?
I am running Win10 on both Virtual Machines. Checked boot order. Removed & added HDD. Nothing works

Had to go back to PD10.

I had the same issue, and changing the disk location from SATA 1:0 to SCSI 0:0 fixed it.

Did you try to "Reset" your VM?

I just found the reset option on the actions menu, same error loading my VM, switching back to PD 10 again.
Any other suggestions?

Switched from SATA 0:1 to IDE 0:1 and it worked.

For all of you still having the problem, did you guys build these VMs from scratch, convert from VMWare Fusion/Workstation or uses parallels transport to snapshot them?

Switching the hard drive from SATA to IDE solved my issue, but my VM was converted from VMWare back when I switched to Parallels 8.

I have a whole bunch of vm's and it seems any that were converted from vmware at any point in time fail to load in 11

So far that seems to be the only option. The only other thing I can recommend is to install parallels transport in the machine and then scan to external drive. And replace the machine with the new one.

I did more research on it, it has something to do with the reserved partitions windows makes. Going to try UEFI and remove the partition (after backup of course). But for now easiest is just to replace. It doesn't affect performance, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Let me know if it does crash though-for some people it seems to cause different windows cannot boot errors.

Just to sum up the workaround:

1. Make sure your VM is stopped.
2. Click on Actions > Configure >Hardware > Hard disk > Advanced Settings > Location and change it to IDE 1:0 or 1:1 from SATA and then restart your virtual machine. See this article for complete details.
