Excel shortcuts

I am struggling to get a shortcut usable within Excel 2013 (Windows).
I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
I want to be able to select a column of data (my data has 25,000 rows). In OS X, the shortcut is cmd/shift/down. I've inserted this into Parallels Desktop>Preferences>Shortcuts>Virtual Machines>Profile

FROM OS X (SHIFT,CMD,DOWN)
TO WINDOWS (CRTL+SHIFT+DOWN)
I then click on the padlock to lock the change in.
I go into Excel 2013 via Parallels and when I select those keys the window slowly animates and shrinks whilst a blue border around the window appears.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Hi Jason,

I'm having a really hard time setting up shortcuts such Alt + E +S + V and other simple things i would be able to do in a normal windows computer. Do I have to go and set up every single "hot key" in order to be effective as working with a windows computer?
