External Devices - No Prompt

Parallels is not prompting me to select where to use my devices at i.e. Mac or My Virtual Machine. I've been through the knowledge base articles and reinstalled the tools etc to no avail.

I.e. this does not happen for me: http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v7/update2/docs/en/Parallels Desktop User's Guide/32916.htm

Parallels is set to prompt me.

Suggestions?

USB was missing from my configuration - however now when trying to connect the device I receive a message saying that there are no virtual USB host controller ports available in the virtual machine even though I have no other USB devices connected to my laptop.

Please follow the steps as suggested below:

1. Please update your Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac to the latest build as suggested at: http://kb.parallels.com/111603
2. (Re)Install Parallels Tools as suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/4841
3. Follow the steps provided in http://kb.parallels.com/115008 To enable USB 3.0 in your Virtual Machine.
4. Please preform the steps suggested at http://bit.ly/1kCC1lU to Set a Particular External Device to Always Be Used With Mac OS X or Windows Virtual Machine.
