External Drive disconnects when I start Parallels

External USB3 Drive disconnects when I start Parallels?

-Parallels Build 9.0.23140
-New MacBook Pro w/ Mavericks
-LaCie USB3 external drive

Brand new computer, Parallels install and external drive.

I transferred my Activation Key today Nov-4-2013

This was not a problem on my old MBP which had Parallels 9 and Mavericks installed.

Is there some configuration that needs to be changed?
 
When you say it "disconnects," do you mean it disconnects from Mac OS, Parallels, or both? Do you see it in the Devices menu in Parallels?

The device was checked in the device menu. I unchecked it and it immediately showed up back on my mac side.
