External hard drive not recognized

Hi,

I am running W10 under Parallels Dektop v14 and wish to add an external hard drive. W10 is not seeing any of the external hard drives attached to my iMac and I cannot figure out why. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi!
The troubles with an external drive recognition are not uncommon. This is what you can do to try and fix this problem:
  1. Make sure your drive powers on
  2. Check the drive in disk management
  3. Try another USB port and computer
  4. Troubleshoot driver issues
  5. Create a new drive volume
  6. Format the drive
These measures are designed to help with your problem.
