    Hi forum,

I'm experiencing problems when trying to resize a parallels instance of an ubuntu-based LAMP distribution. I'm trying to change it from a 2048 MB size to a 10000MB size. I have plenty of space available on my hard drive (32 gigs).

I'm using the Parallels Image Tool to increase the disk capacity. I'm able to get the process started with the new file size, but just as the status bar gets close to completion, I get an error:

"Image Tool is unable to read the format of the hard disk image file you selected. Please choose another image file to proceed"

I've seen a few references from years ago that seemed to suggest that the problem was related to inadequate hard drive space on the main OS. Unfortunately, this does not describe me. :(

    I'm running Parallels Desktop 3.0, build 5638.
    I'm running on os 10.5.8.
The Ubuntu image is using EXT3FS

Any thoughts here? It is going to save me a lot more time to figure out how to expand the image rather than rebuild it.
