file sharing?

Hi,

sorry, if my problem was discussed before, but I couldn't find a solution so far ...

I installed the demo of PD8 on my MacBookPro (i7; 2,8GHz; 8G ram; OS X 10.8.3) ... then I installed a version of Win7 x64 on top of that ...

Well ... so I have an icon of the VM on my Mac desktop now ... I can start Win 7 in a window ... everything seems fine, except that that I can't share files/data/whatever betweens the two systems ...

I have doublechecked all the settings in the configuration ... and in the manual I read, that I should have access to my user folders (docs, music, movies etc.) ... I tried to assign a specific shared folder with no success ... I really have no idea what to do / where to look for a solution and I am feeling slightly stupid at the moment

Btw, a strange side effect: when I load an audio-cd it only shows up in Windows but no more on my Mac desktop :/

Any help / idea is greatly appreciated!

Hi M,

Have you installed Parallels Tools? If not please do so.
If you are uncertain if they installed please reinstall them.

In order to share files with your vm selected but not turned on go to:
Virtual Machine>Configure>Options>Sharing



to further select a mac folder to share Select: Custom Folders



Here you can list any folder(just remember any mac folder you delete from inside your vm will also be deleted from mac)
You can also select specific folder to map to you vm.
Select: Configure (under Shared Profile) just check folder



When you load a cd- is your vm turned on?

many thanks for your help ...

my configuration was the same as like in your screenshots ... but I still couldn't see my Mac-folders in Win7 ... however, I can connect to my Win7 folders in OSX finder (my preferred method anyway) ... so actually, although it seems that I am overlooking something very important, that's all I need for the moment ... and I will follow your suggestion installing Parallel Tools
