Found New Hardware for matshita dvd-r UJ-85J

My MacBook Pro has the matshita dvd-r UJ-85J DVD Drive! Every time I boot Windows XP in Parallels, I always get the Found New Hardware Wizard. The problem is that I cant find a driver for it. I can only guess that it is for MAC OS only, or that the Parallels/Windows default driver is not sufficient. Can anyone Help?
 
CD/DVD-ROM drives does not require any additional drivers.
If you have canceled Found New Hardware Wizard, what does windows device manager show (right click on "My computer->devices")?

The Device Manager shows "CDROM->MATSHITA-DVD-R UJ-85J". It initially shows the device is working property. However, the "Found New Hardware" wizard still pops up every time I boot windows.

If I cancel the wizard, the device manager continues to show that it is working properly. However if I use the wizard to try and find the driver, it will fail and the Device Manager says "The drivers for this device are not installed.

The device continues to work, whether I cancel the wizard or not, but the problem is that the "Found New Hardware" Wizard will continue to pop up every time I re-boot windows.
 
Are you using bootcamp or a pure virtual VM? If you are using virtual VM, you may try to delete Intel 82801BA Ultra ATA Storage Controller from your Windows configuration (right click on my computer-> manage->device manager-> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers). Reboot windows. After booting windows will find new CDROM drive and IDE controller.
Reboot again. After that all must work fine, but if you boot next time windows with image connected, or disconnected cdrom, windows will find one more drive named PRL Virtual CDROM, it's all ok.
 
I deleted the 82801BA Ultra ATA Storage Controller and rebooted. Everything reinstalled, but I still got the MATSHITA-DVD-R UJ-85J new hardware wizard. I tried it twice, deleting both the 82801BA and the MATSHITA. But again, the new hardware wizard still pops up.
 
Other question. Can you connect CD/DVD image in Parallels configuration and try to boot with that image connected. It's interesting to me, will you receive messages from hardware wizard in same manner.
 
I'm not sure what you mean by connect CD/DVD iname in Parallels. Can you give me specific instructions on how to do this?
 
I attached the ISO image as a CDROM! When I booted, it still went through the Found New Hardware wizard process. When I tried to install the driver for it, it did not work. In my device manager it is "PRL Virtural CD-ROM". I can browse the file, but it sill goes through the wizard when I boot!
 
Do you rebooot your windows correctly? I mean the reboot process should be like this "Start->Shutdown->Restart".
 
Please, provide us some more information. What windows do you use? Is it Boot camp or virtual hdd? What third party software have you installed into guest OS (Antiviruses, burning tools etc.) Have you an administrative rights into windows? Can you save any other information into your guest OS (I want to check ability to write info on virtual disk). What do you see suspicious records into windows Event log? (Computer management->event viewer->system)?
 
Also, please tell us whether the following file(s) is(are) available in your guest Windows:
c:\windows\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab
c:\windows\Driver Cache\i386\sp2.cab (in case you have WinXP SP2 installed)

2) Third Party? I'm using eTrust EZ Armor (AntiVirus & Firewall); Brother Printer Control Center; Adobe Photo; Maxtor OneTouch Backup Drive; Quicktime
3) Administrative Rights? YES
4) Event Log? TrueVector Service Errors
5) Yes, I do have the driver.cab and sp2.cab files available in c:\windows\Driver Cache\i386\
 
Is there anyone out there? No one has responded in 4 days?

At any rate, the problem doesn't appear to be with my hardware. I even set the CD/DVD ROM to NOT connect at startup. However, I still get the error "New Hardware Found" Wizard. It is trying to find software for "PRL Virtural CD-ROM".

Seems like this should be either a Parallels problem or a Windows XP problem! Can anyone out there help!!!:confused:

PastorWil, as you see, you are the first with this problem. A lot of people works without problem. All I can say that it isn't parallels problem. Of couse there is some probability of an error, but it is very low.
I don't know what Parallels support and testers doing with your problem, but I think that they can not reproduce it.
Try to re-install windows. Or install windows to other VM and check CDROM there.
If you are starting wihout connected image, CDROM still emulates. So, to remove it from windows you need to start with disabled CDROM drive.
