Game Installing Problems

Hey guys and girls,

I seem to have come across a problem when installing programs with more than one disk. I am currently using Parallels 6 on my Macbook and so far, I've had no problems with running software on it. I am trying to install the first Call of Duty (it requires two disks) and it runs the first disk without an issue during the install. The problem comes when the first disk is finished installing and the computer asks for the second disk. Parallels won't let me eject the first disk to put in the second one because it says I have to shut down the application first. Obviously, I can't finish installing the game without the second disk and I don't know what else to do. Anyone had the same problem and come across a fix?

Hello, Nick!

Parallels never requires shut down application to connect another CD. You could just hold F12 or "Eject" button (depends on you keyboard) to eject CD and insert another one and it will work.

Could you, please, post a screenshot here or tell me about actions you do to eject CD and make Parallels shows such a message?
 
Hey alev,

I tried to install the program again. When the installation package asked for the second disk, the first one would not eject. This is the response I got from the computer when I tried to manually eject the disk (right clicking on the disk icon on the Mac side).

Note: I made the picture smaller in order to fit in this message. Let me know if you need more information.

Could you then try this:

When you are asked for CD2 - right click on CD icon at the bottom of VM window and select Disconnect.
Then eject CD from Mac - now there must not be such a message from Finder.
Connect CD2 and right click CD icon again - Select Real CD/DVD

Thanks for the quick response and for the pointer. I tried what you said and unfortunately, the problem did not get fixed. I right click on the disk icon like you said, pressed the disconnect and it actually did not do anything at all haha. The icon did have a little x on it but nothing changed other than that. The disk still doesn't want to come out until I shut down the application.

Any more ideas?

Nevermind! I just fixed the problem. I did exactly what you said but had to switch a few things arond. It seems that the VM wasn't connected to the Real CD drive at all. Instead, I was connected to some ghost file that came from the disk of my XP. Before, the disk would open under Mac OS when I would put it in. Now that the VM is connected properly, I can properly install everything. Hope that's not too confusing haha.
