I installed Windows XP, upgraded Parallels, and I installed the tools (more than once). Whenever Windows wants to reboot, I can't move my cursor back to the Windows desktop without making it full screen (which is ugly - wrong resolution for full screen).

Before doing anything else, I have been trying to find the tools. My first thing was to tell it to synchronize the clocks. But I can't find them. There's a shared directory on the Windows desktop, but when I try to copy a directory from the Mac desktop to the VM, it doesn't work. And when I look at the Mac menu, the Install tools is not greyed out - so I suspect I haven't installed the tools (which would explain why I can't find them).

I'd like to find out how to skip the Parallels screen when starting Windows - as long as I can get back to it when I want.

But first things first - I need to get the tools working and drag the folder from the Mac to Windows.

(This is a copy of program files that I copied from her old computer - she's going to use Parallels to play some games, and to comply with some work contacts that require that she uses an Active-X e-mail program).

You already posted this problem to another thread. It would be easier for those trying to help you if you would continue the original thread so we'd have the history available.

If you haven't installed the tools, not would be a good time, but you said you did so I'm confused. FWIW, tools need to be reinstalled (upgraded) whenever you install a new Parallels version.

As to drag and drop, it may or may not work depending on the build you are using. There is more than one way to move files between environments. If you have set up a shared folder, and moved files into it in OSX, you should be able to see them in Windows.

Moving the mouse pointer to the guest does not require full screen. It sounds as if you have a tools problem.
