Hello,

I recently bought Parallels 7 and am running windows 7 Ultimate using the VM. I am trying to play a game and I keep getting a directX error. What can I do? What versions of DirectX are supported? Is there ANY way to actually be able to use my graphics card rather than the Parallels graphics?

Right now this product just doesn't seem to promising to me, hopefully that changes.

Can you please specify the directx error you get? Post a screenshot here to make it easier to understand.

Please also specify the game.

The virtual machine always uses Parallels graphic adapter - it is a driver which let the virtualized environment to communicate with your real graphic card. Please remember that Windows is a virtual machine and it needs specific branch of drivers to work in the proper way
 
As i can see from the Google search this particular problem is connected with the game itself and happens no matter if it is a real PC or virtual machine. I am trying to find the possible solution
 
Did you check minimum requirements? they are pretty high.


Minimum:
- OS: Microsoft Windows Vista (Windows XP is unsupported)
- Processor: Dual-core CPU with SSE3 (Athlon 64 X2 4200 / Pentium D 3GHz)
- Memory: 2GB System Memory
- Hard Drive: 10GB of free drive space
- Graphics: DX10 compatible graphics card with 256 MB of memory (Nvidia GeForce 8800 series/ ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro)
- Sound: 100% DirectX 10 compatible sound card
- DirectX®: Microsoft DirectX 10

Recommended:
- OS: Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 or Windows 7
- Processor: Intel Core® 2 Duo 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom X3 2.4GHz or equivalen
- Memory: 3GB system Memory
- Hard Drive:
- Graphics: DX10 compatible graphics card with 512 MB of memory (Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 series/ ATI Radeon HD 5750 series)
- Sound: 100% DirectX 10 compatible Dolby Digital 5.1 sound card
- DirectX®: Microsoft DirectX 10.1

Ensure you have assigned 3GB of RAM to your virtual machine (you need to have 8 GB on Mac to do that - do not assign more than 50% of RAM to your VM) and ensure you have DirectX 10 installed (not 9). Please also revise your graphic card on Mac side - is it listed above?
