Hi Guys,

I have just downloaded the update for my parallels to 3214, and now I get this message:


Virtual machine cannot be started because of the following problem:

File /Users/adamscott/Documents/Parallels/Microsoft Windows XP/winxp.hdd seems to be not a regular file and cannot be used as a hard disk image.

Any ideas/help to fix this

Could you please send me two screenshots?

Find your .hdd file, right click the icon and choose Get Info. Then right click the icon again and choose Show Package Contents. I would like to see the both boxes.

Adam, thank you for the screenshot. It would have been OK if it was possible to see anything there! I've sent you a letter on the e-mail you used to register on the forum. Please attach the screenshot of a higher resolution when answering to my letter. Thank you again :)

Let's try creating a new Virtual Machine and attaching the existing .hdd file to it.
When the new VM is created, open Configuration Editor and click Add... button. Choose Hard Disk -> Next -> Use an existing virtual hard disk image etc.

Adam, thanks a lot for the screenshot you have sent by e-mail.

Now we can see that the .hdd file you are trying to use contains no data.

Please look for another .hdd file or .hds file on your computer.

If you find another .hdd file, move it to the folder where your .pvs file is stored and connect this .hdd file to the Virtual Machine. To connect it, open Configuration Editor -> Hard Disk. Click [...] button at the Image file field and browse to the .hdd. Click OK.

If you don't find another .hdd file but find a .hds file, rename it to .hdd, then move to the folder with .pvs and connect to VM.
