Help in loading XP

I can't seem to get Windows XP loaded without getting an error that says I have to restart. http://forum.parallels.com/images/smilies/mad.gif
When I click on the Power On key, my screen has a gray transparent screen and then give the message I have to restart.
One thing I noticed is that I'm supposed to be able to choose a CD drive under Devices on the Menu screen. All the options are grayed out.
Any help would be appreciated.
