HELP! No Network/Internet Connection iMac i7

With the latest Parallels 5: Migrated a working Vista Home Basic from a PC to a new iMac i7 (10.6.2) using Transporter and a new copy of Parallels 5 (latest downloaded update). Cannot get a network connection. Have tried most of what has been suggested in other threads with no luck, although the "reset ip" command suggested did not work in Vista (error said something about needing to be elevated).

I have tried repairing permissions, re-setting the Parallels/prefs/network to the default. Reinstalled newest downloaded version of Parallels 5. Tried reinstalling Tools several times. Nothing works. If I try Connect to A Network, it says "Windows cannot find any Networks." If I try to add a network connection (Connect to the Internet), it says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware." In Devices, the Parallels ethernet driver shows, but does not work for some reason.

Not sure what to try next. Very frustrating. Filed a Problem Report #1206952.

Additionally, I do not have either Crystal or Coherence available (both greyed out). Not sure what is up there either.

Hopefully I can get this remedied and get rid of the PC box.
 
According to logs in Problem Report the Parallels tools are not installed at the moment.. They were installed at 12/6/2009 7:34:09 and were uninstalled at 2009-12-06 12.26.41. All other settings of Virtual machine are ok.

Click (as usual) menu-item "Virtual machine" -> "Install Parallels Tools". If installation won't start, open My Computer and double-click the Parallels Tools disc icon to start the installation. If the installation wizard does not launch automatically, right-click the disc, choose Open from the shortcut menu, and double-click Setup.exe to launch the installer)

If installing Parallels Tools won't help, please send one more problem report with output of "ipconfig /all"
 
Did a new transfer of the Vista machine. Installed Tools. No luck. No network and no Convergence/Crystal. Did an uninstall of tools and reinstalled. Nothing. Saw that Vista's Defender program was blocking startup of a couple Tools. Turned off User Account Control (which I believe turns off Defender and other horrible Vista measures. Reinstalled Tools. Nothing.

When I look in Device manager, the Parallels Ethernet Adapter is there, but with a warning: "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12). If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."

There are no other ethernet adapters listed.

Frustrating. Never have liked Vista, but this is making me like it even less, if that is possible.

As an update, I did a fresh install of Vista on Parallels 5 and it works fine. Therefore, it appears to be a problem with Parallels Transporter. Apparently when Transporter is creating the virtual system on the PC or converting it when moved to the Mac, it is screwing something up.

Need to figure out how to migrate the old Vista install from the PC because I have too many programs already installed on that drive to have to try to reinstall all of them again. Any ideas would be appreciated on how to troubleshoot the migration issue.
 
No help so far.

As an update, I did a fresh transfer from the real computer (PC) using Transporter. Migrated it to the iMac. Went through the conversion, etc. Nothing. No network, same symptoms, same yellow triangle on the Parallels Ethernet adapter. Tried to uninstall Tools. Then reinstalled tools. Nothing. Tried Bridged Networking. Nothing.

Looks like Transporter is broken when migrating a Vista volume to Parallels. As noted in previous post, if I do a clean install of Vista into a new VD, works fine. If I try to migrate an existing PC, will not work. No network. No Coherence or Crystal modes.

Sure wish someone had some insight on this or something to try.
 
Another update: I downloaded VMFus demo to see if that would work. It does. I was able to both migrate the Vista PC and I was able to open the Parallels VM of Vista that had not worked. Either way, the new Vista volumes in VM both work for network and their coherence mode.

This leads me to believe that their is some sort of bug in Parallels when trying to migrate an existing volume.

Sure wish someone could be of assistance on this. I have filed problem reports but heard nothing.

Solved

Merci beaucoup! Simple fix. Just wish I had known about it before! The PC did have an ATI card installed, but never thought it would be the source of problems in migration.
