"host process for windows tasks" cpu usage

when using parallels 10 for windows 8.1 the process "host process for windows tasks" runs for about 5 minutes every 10 minutes or so.
it uses about 50% cpu usage and causes fans to speed up.

this doesn't happen when running under bootcamp so i'm assuming it's to do with parallels tools that are running?

is it doing some kind of periodic synching? if so how do i switch this off - i don't need any of the fancy features if they're going to be inefficient.
 
problem was default scheduled windows defender scans. when running in bootcamp these scans don't cause any performance issues and use negligible resources.

i guess the IO is a little much when using virtualisation.
having disabled all of the scheduled scans in task scheduler i'm experience no further performance issues.

Hi all,
1) Please follow the steps as suggested at: http://kb.parallels.com/112764 and check the CPU usage.
2) For high fan speed on Mac, please follow the steps provided below:
> Start Virtual Machine.
> Take a snapshot. Click Actions (top menu) > Take Snapshot.
> Open Task manager in Windows (right-click on Task Bar > Task manager)
> Click on CPU tab to arrange processes by CPU usage
> Check what processes takes a lot of CPU
In this case there were 2 processes:
BitDefender. exe (around 30%) and X1ServiceHost.exe (around 70%)
-Go to Control Panel > Uninstall Programs > Remove X1Search & Bit Defender
-Start Virtual Machine > temperature is around 50 degrees, Parallels Virtual Machine process: 7-15% of CPU
