How do I re-install and import data?

I am currently running Leopard on a MacBook and use Parallels in order to run two programs. QuickBooks and Fishbowl, everything has been running very smooth until I woke up this morning to a problem with my Mac. Unfortunately this problem has required that I re-install Leopard. I tried to run an archived installation, however it is not able to import the user information. As a result I believe I will lose the database information within Parallels. Is that the case? Or will it still be there even though my User information is not making it over in the import?

This is rather important because unfortunately I neglected to backup my data from this week. So the most recent database that I have for both Quickbooks and Fishbowl is from the 10th of October. Which means I would lose a weeks worth of data if there is no way to find the database on the harddrive(which I have access to via Firewire).

I have tried looking for where that data would be stored(via Firewire) but when I go to Library>Parallels all I see there is some tools, help and a bugreport. Is there a way to access where Parallels writes the data in relation to the actual databases for Quickbooks and/or Fishbowl?

You need to restore your Virtual machine, it is usually in one of 3 places:
~/Library/Parallels
~/Documents/Parallels
/Users/Shared/Parallels
this is default location , or check other location where you put it
use Spotlight to locate your Virtual machine
 
Ok, I found where all my data was for Parallels and the two programs I run from inside of it. I have completed the re-install of Leopard but I stopped short of going through the intial setup. The reason being is that I don't want to make a mistake here that will cause me to lose any information. As previously stated the archived install did not allow me to bring over my previous user information. So I have backed that up to an external harddrive.

The question now is if I dump all the Users>Library>Parallels data that I have into the new User>Library>Parallels folder will it launch with all my programs & databases as they did before?
 
I've made more progress but I believe at this point I would need more help from someone here with regards to Parallels. I have everything back up and running but I need to know where I can find the databases stored on the harddrive part of parallels. For example, if I go into Parallels right now I can go to the C: drive and find programs, find the progam I need and go to the database folder for that program. What I need to find out is where do I go within my Mac folders to find the C: drive of Parallels so I can grab the most recent database for QB and Fishbowl and dump them into my new folders.

Any help is appreciated.

I just found this post on another site, does this mean that if I was not using a bridge network from within Parallels that I will not be able to get to the DB in question?

The problem is that disk C: you are pointing to is actually winxp.hdd (or something like that name) file in Virtual Machine folder, you need to install Parallels Desktop or either start Virtual Machine , or use Parallels Explorer to retrieve data from that disk

The problem is that the old folder is sitting on my external harddrive because I had to wipe the Mac in order to get it to run at all. So how would I go about doing what you said above? Would I have to create a new user and install Parallels from scratch, re-install all my programs and then launch them and do a back up of the db? If so how would that all work? Would it be as simple as getting my original user<library<parallels folder and dump it into the new user one? Not sure if that made sense but again any help would be appreciated.

No, it is not necessary.
I suppose you can create new Virtual machine with hard disk name with the same name as on external drive, and then copy winxp.hdd to VM folder

So if I was to get that one file and copy it over to the user<library<parallels folder it would have the db in there somewhere and bring things back to normal?
 
I do not know your version and previous location, you need to copy winxp.hdd and all other files from Virtual Machine folder to corresponding places on new Mac

So I should not put the entire Parallels folder in it? Instead just get the Microsoft Windows XP folder and dump that entire folder in?
 
Let us take a look:
1. Every Virtual Machien is a number of files and folders.
Usually
winxp.hdd
Microsoft Windows XP.pvs
--the main files
and
Snapshots and Snapshots.xml files if there are Snapshots.
All files should be in one folder in order to be used by Parallels Desktop
