how do I type a British Pound symbol?

Can't seem to find it on the internet at large. Not for Parallels, at least. Anyone solve this?

thank you sathiya. but this seems to help me change my entire keyboard. I'd prefer to simply add this one keystroke while leaving the rest of the keyboard in it's default state. There MUST be a way now, though. I cannot imagine a keyboard in the US that ignores the British pound. right?

Hit Option+3 to type the British Pound symbol on a Mac keyboard and check if it works.
