How to boot single user mode in Parallels/Mint 17?

Discussion in 'Linux Virtual Machine' started by Parallels User, Dec 18, 2017.

  1. I know I have seen this in the past, I just don't remember where. To boot Mint into single user mode you need to hold down space key during boot. Under Parallels this does not work as the space key does not seem to be passed to GRUB (the Linux booter).
Who knows how to force single user mode during boot?
    Thanks in advance.

You can try to select "Select boot device on startup" at VM configuration on "Boot Order" tab.
This will cause a delay on boot so you will be able to switch focus to VM window and press required keys before booting Mint.

  3. Thanks - that fixed it
