How to create an ISO Disc Image in a third-party app

I'm using Serif's MoviePlus video editing app (kinda similar to iMovie).
I want to create a disc image of my project - this is an option on one of the app's menus. I click through a couple of wizards and finally click 'Create', but nothing happens.
If I use the same app directly on a PC, a progress bar shows what's happening and before long I have my required ISO disc image. There is no CD/VD drive attached to the PC.
Whether I connect MoviePlus to the Mac's optical drive or not, I can't produce the required disc image.
Any ideas where I may be going wrong?
 
Hi Brian, please follow the steps suggested below:
Start Parallels Desktop > Go to your Virtual machine's Configuration > Switch to Hardware tab -> CD/DVD Drive. Choose Default CD/DVD from the Connect to: drop-down list > Restart VM and check if the issue still persistent,
If the issue still persisting, please contact Serif's technical support, check whether this app is compatible with virtual machines and let us know so that we can help you better.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already tried it many times. Since reading your post, I've just tried it one more time but the result is still the same.
Strangely, I have always been able to burn a physical disc from the MacBook's optical disc drive using MoviePlus, it's just the ISO disc image that I can't create.
I'll give Serif a call in the morning.
