How to install 10.9.3 Mavericks USB install disk into Parallels 9

I have the 10.9.3 Mavericks bootable on a USB and cannot figure out how to create a parallels virtual machine with it? I have tried to use the "New" and then USB and it finds the USB bootable but then it says it can't find an operating system on the USB.
I can shut down and restart the Macbook and boot from the USB drive just fine. What is going on here? Please help.

I'd like to know how to do this too. Same problem.
