I'm running Windows 8.1 guest OS and I need to be able to switch to specific arbitrary resolutions that are not provided as options in the Windows resolution drop down. I've explored different hacks and not found anything that works. Currently I just keep resizing the Parallels window on OS X until I get the resolution I want, but that is very error prone, and I often times cannot get the exact resolution I am looking for. Since the guest OS resolution is a function of the size of the window on host OS, it seems like this should be a simple problem to solve. Any suggestions?
Have you tried 'Advanced settings' in the Windows 'Display>ScreenResolution' Control Panel? In the dialog that opens, click on 'List All Modes'. That gives more settings than appear in the ordinary 'Resolution' dropdown.
