I have Parallels 7 and Windows XP. I don't want to use Vista or 7 because I HATE that interface.
Per instructions I tried to install the generic HP Color Laserjet 8500 PS driver.
Only I cannot install the fargin' HP CLJ 8500. It requires files that do not appear to be in either of my Windows XP CDs (or buried in CAB files on my CDs), but when I download them from the internet I get a message that the printer cannot be installed.
Worse I cannot download a driver for that printer from HP for XP.
Still worse I constantly get messages from Windows that I'm missing files. I can live without the printer, I cannot live with dialogs popping-up every other minute.
Worst of all I cannot figure out how to delete whatever was installed so that I don't see the error messages again. Deleting HP files and registry keys isn't doing the trick.
Thank you Parallels for advising us to install a ghost driver.
