I would recommend that everyone using a Windows VM with Parallels version 3 or version 4 review this knowledge base article recently posted by the Parallels team - http://kb.parallels.com/en/5859.
After utilizing this method of optimizing the boot sequence, I was able to reduce my Windows startup time by 10 or more seconds - a very significant performance increase.
