install locks up V5584 on Lepoard 10.5

Hi,

I just bought parrallels for mac V 5584 today and tried to install it on my new MacbookPro running Lepoard 10.5 and the installation hangs before getting very far past confirming admin rights.

When I look at the install log it says it had permission problems.

I tried disk utils and selected "Repair disk permissions", restarted then tried to reinstall but no luck.

It just hangs and i have to force a shutdown of the installer.

Any solutions?

Do you get any error message when installation locks up?
Have you had a look at this article?

You can try the following as well:

At the moment of freeze, open Terminal (Applications - Utilities) and execute the commands:

cd /Volumes/Parallels\ Desktop/Install\ Parallels\ Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources/

sudo ./preflight

no error message - just hangs

Thanks for the reply. No - there are no actual error messages, the installation starts, asks for the admin password then just sits there without proceeding. I left it for 2 hours, came back and it was still sitting there. The time below said 5 1/2 hours until complete. Now I have installed it fine on my 1 year old Macbookpro - no problems, so I know how fast the install should be - and how easy it normally is.

I had already tried the link you provided and followed all the steps - but there was no change at all - it still just sits there. Thats when I checked the install log to see what was going on and saw a number of items in the log saying something like no permissons to create folder or similar.

Do you think I need to uninstall the bootcamp on my new Macbookpro? Would that help?

Any ideas from anyone welcome - especially some smart tech at Parallels.

I've consulted a smart tech at Parallels - he asked you to make sure you had run these commands at the moment of freeze:

cd /Volumes/Parallels\ Desktop/Install\ Parallels\ Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources/

sudo ./preflight

Did you?

It this does not help, please uninstall build 5584 and install build 5582.

Thanks for that. I am now interstate and will have to wait 2 weeks until I return to my Canberra office to try your command suggestion:

I will advise how this goes upon my return. (If this does work it should be posted somewhere in your support pages.)
