Is 8 Gbytes maximum on MACBOOK PRO 2011?

Hi

I installed 16 Gbytes in my early 2011 Macbook pro 17 inch and was surprised that Parallels will not see the full 16 Gbytes - it only sees 8Gbytes. Is there any reason? Can this be changed to reflect total memory?

Currently, Parallels only supports a max of 8 GB of RAM for a virtual machine. Not sure if this will change at any point.

Thanks for that. I found that you can change the memory maximum limit allocated to parallels as follows:
prlsrvctl set --mem-limit 16384

But this tells parallels what it can use - not what is available for the virtual machine.


Anyhow - using 8Gbytes significantly speeds up my VM and allows me to use my software well. It makes Office makes office programs a lot quicker than before.
