Is version 7 faster than Version 6 in 10.6?

I'm not looking to upgrade to Lion any time soon. What kind of performance difference has anyone seen in Snow Leopard between v 6 with the latest patches and v 7? Thanks! I generally run XP pro and Vista in VM mode.
